Company Overview

The Cone and Plate(let) Analyzer (CPA), a novel point-of-care system for real-time, whole-blood platelet function testing was invented by Prof. David Varon and Prof. Naphtali Savion, both widely experienced and well-known investigators in the field of thrombosis, hemostasis and vascular biology. The basic CPA technology was patented through Ramot, the Authority for Applied Research & Industrial Development of the Tel Aviv University, Israel. Ramot granted Matis Medical exclusive rights for the worldwide commercialisation of the technology for all applications.

Before Matis commenced its operations, Ortho Diagnostic Systems (a Johnson & Johnson Company) supported the project with a research grant from 1995 to 1997. Matis Medical, Inc. was founded in 2000 and raised capital from private investors. The Company's first two products are the Impact™ and the Impact-R™.

The Company has performed an extensive body of studies including platelet aggregation testing, congenital and acquired primary hemostasis abnormalities, monitoring GPIIB-IIIA antagonist therapy, and testing of platelet response to aspirin and clopidogrel. The studies demonstrated the success of the Impact™ in screening of congenital primary hemostasis abnormalities and testing platelet response to GPIIb-IIIa antagonists, aspirin and clopidogrel.

The Impact System for Clinical / Point-of-Care Laboratories is in development and not available commercially.
